Sensor Bridge lights

If the Sensor Bridge is showing a solid blue light, it is online and ready to connect to a Contact Sensor. If it is yellow, you may need to ‘reboot’ it. Reboot by disconnecting it from the Indoor Camera and plugging it back in after a minute.

If the Sensor Bridge is still showing a yellow light, please ensure your Indoor Camera is also showing a solid blue light.

Good to know: Both devices must be online for the Contact Sensors to be set up and stay connected.

Batteries

The small button batteries in your Contact Sensors should last between 12-18 months. When the time comes to change them, you’ll need to do so safely. The Sky Protect app will notify you when the battery is ‘low’ and ‘critically low’. There’s no need to change the batteries unless you get either of these notifications.

You can only open the battery cover with a small pozidrive screwdriver. The battery cover screws are designed to stay in the battery door when accessing the compartment. When new batteries are inserted into the battery compartment, be sure to place them the right way up, so the positive + and negative – contacts are orientated the right way up.

Make sure the screws are tight when the battery cover has been put back on

For more guidance on getting this correct please view the illustrations in the printed safety leaflet.

Good to know: You can take your used batteries to your local recycling centre.

Range

The Contact Sensor connects to the Sensor Bridge on the back of your Indoor Camera. The Sensor Bridge acts as an internet hub, so it is important your Indoor Camera is connected to your Wi-Fi network.

The range depends on how far away your Contact Sensor is from your Indoor Camera. Range can be impacted by walls, furniture, and other items in your home.

Good to know: The maximum range is up to 100 metres without any obstructions between the Sensor Bridge to the Contact Sensor.

Help attaching your Contact Sensor

  • Once the Contact Sensor is paired with the Sensor Bridge, you can mount it on your chosen place. Included with the sensor are adhesive pads and batteries. Tools aren’t required.

  • Test the area first. Check the area is flat and fits each half of the sensor. You can also test the area using double sided adhesive tape or painters' tape before peeling off the adhesive strip on the sensor.

  • Check that when the door or window opens or shuts, you get a notification in your Sky Protect app. You’ll see a red flash on the sensor when the door or window opens or closes. (Make sure the home is armed to get a notification, see here to learn more about arming your devices.)

  • You can attach either side of the sensor to the frame or the door itself. As long as the sensor is aligned correctly when the door is closed.

  • You can also use alcohol wipes to remove dust and debris from the surface that you’ll stick the sensor to. Let the surface dry first.

  • If you're attaching your sensor to thick, or ornate windows or doorframes, here’s some tips that could help:

Good to know:

Try using spacers. If there is an uneven surface or a gap between the sensor that is too large, you can use or create custom spacers using materials like wood, plastic or foam tape. This will bridge the gap and bring the sensor and magnet to the same level.

Try a different area. It can be anywhere on the window or door, and some areas can be flatter than others.

Adjust it where you can. If the sensor isn’t perfectly aligned, it may still work. If you see a red light on the Sensor whilst opening and closing each side remains no more than 2cm apart when the door or window is closed and you’re receiving notifications, then you’re good to go.
