When using the X’COMP, certain specific situations may occur, requiring particular attention or precise interventions.
Here they are:

🟦 SPECIAL CASE 1: My shock absorber’s cup has studs

🟩 SOLUTION :
Reposition/Screw the fastener nuts into contact on the studs to be able

to proceed

🟦 SPECIAL CASE 2 : My shock absorber’s stay rod is coupled with a fork
In some configurations, the strut may be firmly fixed to a fork, making direct work on the strut more complex.

🟩 SOLUTION :
Remove the fork from the strut before any operation.
For this, it is recommended to use the suspension strut spreader (ref. 3269) to facilitate extraction without damaging the components.

🟦 SPECIAL CASE 3: The upper threaded part of the strut remains stuck in the strut mount.

This situation may occur when the threaded rod of the strut does not properly pass through the strut mount, making it impossible to position the upper fastening nut.

🟩 SOLUTION 1:
Decompress and then recompress the spring. Install the corresponding centering rod and guide the threaded rod through the hole of the strut mount to ease insertion.

🟩 SOLUTION 2:
Insert a suitable key into the upper threaded part of the strut rod, then turn counterclockwise. The threaded part should rise through the mount until it protrudes enough to position the fastening nut.

🟩 SOLUTION 3:
If the previous attempts fail, the strut is most likely too worn: in this case, a complete replacement of the part is necessary.

🟦 SPECIAL CASE 4: The mounting bracket of the strut prevents the closing of the strut vise clamp.

This issue may arise when the mounting bracket obstructs the proper closing of the clamp on the vise, making installation unstable or impossible.

🟩 SOLUTION 1:
Place the strut mounting bracket on the upper part of the vise, then close the clamp. This frees up the clamping area and stabilizes the part.

🟩 SOLUTION 2:
Slightly rotate the strut body until sufficient clearance is found between the mount and the bracket. This orientation is ideal for properly installing the strut in the vise.

🟦 SPECIAL CASE 5: Peugeot 3008 (from 2016 onwards).

The strut of this model has a particular design. The mount, brackets, and lower fixing of the strut are very close to each other, making installation more complex than on other vehicles.

🟩 SOLUTION:
To properly install the strut:

  • Remove the upper spacers located above the clamp and the knob slot.

  • Install the clamp, then clamp the strut between the weld of the mount and the brackets.
