Some clients might have unusual setups where they have multiple departments in one "location/warehouse" and therefore wants to use a single beacon for time registration for all departments. In this article, we will go through how we add all these extra departments to a beacon.

This whole process can be done remotely without interference from the client except for the initial configuration.

Since beacons don't have any identifiers, it's important that one of the managers configures a beacon to one of the shops in the "warehouse".

When this is done, you can search up the user in intercom here.

When opening their profile, you will see a link to the beacon.

note: if you don't see this link, you might need to press See XX more

Click the link and you will get a list of active beacons for that department.

If you see multiple you can use the address to pinpoint which beacon it might be.

If the list is empty, no beacon has been configured, and you need to do it yourself, or a manager has to do it.

When you have identified the beacon we can go on to the next step

First, you need to get CTX-tokens of all the shops you want to configure.

CTX-tokens are the client and department number, so for my demo shop, my CTX-token is c867d7137.

This is very familiar to all of you, and you can get this from the shop link.

The example highlighted in bold.

Make a list of all the CTX-tokens you need to be configured for the beacon.

Start with pressing Settings, then once in the beacon, press Edit Settings.

Now press the field called tags. That is where we are going to fill all the CTX-Tokens. Then press Create New Tag.
Now you just paste the CTX-token and press Add. After you added it, you will see that it's added to the line called Tags.

When you are done press Save settings and confirm that the CTX-tokens are listed under the Tags field.

Firstly head over to the department settings for the department you are adding and press the Sync department iBeacons button.

Beacons will now be synced within a couple of minutes and the user's can check-in 🎉

It's extremely important that this beacon is not reconfigured by anyone. If the beacon is reconfigured, this custom configuration you just added will disappear and you will have to do it again.

That's why if someone is reporting issues and you know they are using a single beacon, checking the configuration should be a top priority since there's a high chance that it has been reconfigured. I've seen this multiple times.
