How are your extra kilometers calculated?
The most important thing to know is that we count your kilometers over the entire duration of your rental contract, whether it's a monthly, 9 month, or yearly contract:
Unused kilometers roll over: If you drive less than your monthly limit (which can be 1000 km, 2000 km, or 3000 km, depending on what you chose), the remaining distance is added to your total available balance for the next month.
Extra kilometers are balanced out: If you drive over your monthly limit, the excess kilometers are deducted from next month's included kilometers, and can be 'recovered' if you drive less in the next month(s).
The only exception is when you surpass the 2000 km flexibility buffer. This is looked at on a monthly basis, and once you surpass 2000 km on top of your included kilometers per month, these extra kilometers will be charged immediately at €0,18/km, VAT included.
What's your 2000 km flexibility buffer?
We give you a flexibility buffer that allows you to drive up to 2000 km extra on top of your monthly included amount:
This buffer lets you avoid paying immediately, the extra kilometers are simply deducted from your next month's included kilometers.
If you drive over this 2000 km buffer in a single month, you will be charged immediately.
💡 Example: You have a subscription that includes 1000 km per month.
Month 1: You drive 800 km. The extra 200 km roll over and are available next month.
Month 2: You drive 1200 km. You are not charged immediately. The extra 200 km from this month are offset by the 200 km saved in month 1. Your overall contract balance is still on track!
Month 3: You drive 3500 km. All the extra kilometers are charged immediately for surpassing the flexibility buffer.
When are you charged for extra kilometers?
A. Surpassing the flexibility buffer of 2000 km
You will only be charged immediately during your contract if you drive more than 2000 km in excess in a single month, exceeding the flexibility buffer.
Any kilometer you drive that is more than 2000 km above your included monthly allowance is billed to you during your rental at €0,18 per kilometer.
💡 Example: Your monthly inclusion is 1000 km, but in one month you drive 3500 km.
3500 km - 1000 km = 2500 km
Since you surpassed your flexibility buffer, the 2500 km is charged to you immediately at €0,18/km.
B. End of contract charge
If you end your contract with a negative total kilometer balance (meaning you have driven more than the total kilometers included in your contract), the excess
kilometers will be charged to you at €0,18/km, VAT included, once the contract officially ends.
💡 Example: Your rental is for 9 months with 2000 km/month included:
Month 1: 1500 km. You drive under your 2000 km/month limit, the remaining 500 km will be rolled over into next month's kilometer balance.
Month 2: 2500 km. Since you have 500 km extra this month, you are right on balance.
Month 3: 2800 km. This month you drove 800 km on top of the included 2000 km/month. Since you end your contract with 800 km extra, these will be charged at the end of your contract.
Why do you have to pay when you exceed 2000 km extra per month?
We set this limit and enforce immediate charges as a safety measure to prevent potential misuse or unpaid invoices.
