Slider Question Type

Capture a value on a sliding scale in a Checklist — a quick rating between a minimum and maximum, useful for condition and readiness scores.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

A Slider Question lets a User pick a value on a sliding scale between a minimum and a maximum — a fast way to capture a rating like an overall condition or readiness score (for example, 1–10) without typing a number.

Users must be Super Users or have the following Role to add or edit Checklist questions:

  • Checklists: Modify or Create

Why this matters: A slider is quick to use on a tablet and naturally bounded — the User can only choose within the scale you set. For a subjective "how is it overall?" read, that's faster and more consistent than free text or a long option list, and the value still trends cleanly on Dashboards.

Adding a Slider Question

1. Open the Checklist editor

Go to Checklists in the Mobaro Backend and open or create a Checklist.

2. Add the element

Click Add an element and choose Slider Question.

3. Set the scale

Enter a Title, then set the minimum and maximum of the scale (for example 1 and 10). Use score intervals if you want different parts of the scale to score differently.

Best practice: Keep the scale tight and meaningful (1–5 or 1–10). A 1–100 slider invites false precision on what is really a judgement call, and makes the steps hard to land on accurately on a touchscreen.

Frequently asked questions

Q: When should I use a Slider instead of a Select question?
A: Use a Slider for a value on a continuous scale (an overall score); use a Select question for distinct named options. Both support triggers — the Slider's condition compares the value, the Select's matches an option.

Q: Can I score parts of the scale differently?
A: Yes. Use score intervals to make, say, the bottom of the scale score zero so low ratings show as failures in reporting.

Q: Can a low slider value trigger an Assignment?
A: Yes. Add a trigger with a condition on the value (for example, below your minimum acceptable rating). See Adding triggers to a Checklist.
