Mapon is not responsible for errors that occurred before or after the installation of the device, as a non-contact data reader is used to read the data.
1. Check for errors: Start the engine and inspect the tachograph and vehicle dashboard for any error messages. If no errors are displayed, turn off the ignition and proceed with the installation.
2. Prepare the installation area: Remove the plastic panels to access the fuse block and the plastic airflow panel.
3. Connect the CAN-CLICK module: Find the blue and green twisted wires in the specified area. Untwist the vehicle's blue and green wires to create approximately 5-6 cm of access for the contactless reader. Connect the blue wire to CAN H and the green wire to CAN L on the Quasar MCB-CLICK-CAN. Secure the wires using the provided plastic cable ties.
4. Connect the device to the cables: Attach the black connectors to the Mapon Expert tracking device.
5. Connect to power: Based on the type of power connector in your vehicle, select either the grey (X7) or blue (X15) connector and attach it to the appropriate port.
GREY (x7) For vehicles till 2019
For Mercedes trucks till 2019, the connector is located near the fuse box.
BLUE (x15) For vehicles from 2019
For Mercedes trucks from 2019 onwards, the connector is located beneath the vehicle's hood.
6. Remove the tachograph: Insert the tachograph removal tools, carefully remove the tachograph, and inspect connectors for any damage or disconnection.
If you notice any seals on the tachograph or have any trouble removing it, please reach out to a certified tachograph specialist for assistance.
7. Match and connect the cables: Disconnect the original red and brown connectors by pressing the plastic tab. Connect the red and brown connectors from the extension cable in the kit to the tachograph.
8. Route and connect the extension cables: Route the extension cable through the cabin to the fuse box and connect the black 3-pin connectors.
Ensure that the power cables are positioned so they do not interfere with the driver!
9. Check the connection and register the device:
Go to mapon.com/services to check the device connection and perform the tachograph connection test.
Register the device by filling out the form here.
Please note that the ignition must be turned on to check the tacho connection.
10. Finish the installation: Verify that the orange and green LEDs light up once to confirm a successful installation. Place the GPS antenna (magnet side down) — Best: on the roof centre, face-up. If installed inside, place it on top of the dashboard near the windshield, close to the centre (not under the dashboard; you may position it near the removed airflow panel only if it has a clear view through the windshield). Secure the Mapon Expert device with a zip tie or tape.
After a successful installation, log in to your Mapon account via www.mapon.com/new. There, you’ll see the registered unit with the device’s serial number in the Map section.
