How to choose a variety
Add a plant to your plan then double-tap on it (or alternatively tap on it once, then tap Edit on the editing toolbar below your plan).
Tap on the Variety drop-down menu and select your variety.
Scroll down and tap Done to save your changes.
How to add a new variety
If the variety you need is not currently listed in the Garden Planner, you can open the Edit Plant box as above then add your own variety in the following way:
Tap Add Variety.
Name your variety, then tap Add.
How to Customize a Variety
If you want to change the default spacings and/or growing dates, tap Customize Varieties.
You can choose to show only varieties you've defined yourself or from specific seed catalogs, then tap on the Variety drop-down menu to choose an available variety. Varieties you've defined yourself are indicated with a blue person icon, while seed catalog varieties are indicated with a red book icon.
To change the spacing or growing dates for a variety, first tap on Edit.
Check the Use Custom Spacings box and edit the spacings if necessary.
Use the 'Between plants' value for single plants or plants grown in blocks, and both the 'Between plants in rows' and 'Between rows' values for plants grown in rows.
Check the Use Custom Times box and tap on the calendars for the months or half-months that are appropriate for you growing this plant if necessary.
Tap Done when finished.
Tap on Save All Changes.
Copy details from a similar variety
To save having to re-enter your custom settings, they can be copied from a previously customized variety.
First tap on Customize Varieties.
Tap on the Copy From button.
Choose the Plant and Variety you want to copy from, the check the boxes to copy spacing and/or sow, plant and harvest dates.
Tap on Import Properties, then tap on Save All Changes.
