The Garden Planner includes a range of containers that can be used to plan your garden layout, and which can be found among the Garden Objects. Plants in containers are typically grown in a richer growing medium and can be spaced more closely together.
Adding Plants to Containers
Add a container to your plan, then choose a plant you would like to grow in it. When you move the plant into a container, the icon automatically becomes smaller.
When plants are added to beds or containers, they become paired so they can easily be moved around your plan together. Simply select the container, then click and drag it to its new position, and all plants within it will move with the container.
How to Turn Off Container Spacing
Garden Objects that use container spacing are marked as Planting Area in the Garden Object selector:
If you want to opt out of the smaller icons and spacing for a specific container, first click on the container on your plan to highlight it. Click Edit Object on the floating toolbar, then uncheck the Use Small Container Spacing box:
Raised beds and grow bags do not use smaller plant icons and spacing by default, but if you want one of these objects to use smaller icon sizes and spacing, click on it to highlight it, click Edit Object, then check the Use Small Container Spacing box.
How to Edit Your Container's Settings
When plants are added to containers, this is shown in the floating toolber. You have three options in the floating toolbar:
Select the container. If the container is hard to see or select beneath the plants, click on the name of the container and it will be selected.
Edit the plant. This enables you to access all of the usual Plant Edit options such as choosing a variety, setting in-ground dates, adjusting the plant's exact coordinates, adding notes etc.
More options. This option offers editing tools such as copy and paste, delete, send the plant to the front or back, and locking the plant.
By default, the colored background is removed from plants in containers to avoid making the container appear cluttered when lots of plants are grown closely together.
If you'd prefer to display the colored backgrounds, which can help you to avoid growing plants too closely together, click the Planner Options menu (three dots) on the right-hand side of your plan. Check Include Plants in Small Containers:
This will display colored backgrounds for all plants in containers on your plan.
Plant Labels
By default, plant labels are shown for all plants added to your plan, but you may wish to hide labels to make closely-planted plants in containers easier to see.
To hide the labels for plants in containers, click the Planner Options menu. You can choose to show or hide all plant labels, or hide only the labels for plants in small containers:
