Video Guide: Adding Components to Your Library
Watch this quick overview of how to add components to your Eturnity library:
Key Takeaways:
Eturnity maintains a global library of major technical components (modules, inverters)
Build your own private library of components you use
Add installation services and accessories as "Other components"
Your Private Library
When you navigate to Library > Components, you see all components you've selected and added to your private library. These components are immediately available when creating projects and can be configured with your specific pricing and preferences.
The Global Eturnity Library
The Add component button in the toolbar above the component list opens access to the global Eturnity library - a comprehensive collection of over 50,000 technical components with complete data sheets that are continuously maintained and updated by Eturnity.
Your Advantage: You benefit from a large solar component library on the market with all common PV modules, inverters, battery storage systems, and other components - without maintaining your own technical data.
Two Types of Components
You can add two main types of components to your library:
Main Components: Pre-defined products from manufacturers (modules, inverters, batteries, etc.) with complete specifications
Other Components: Custom items you create for services, installation work, or specialized products
Prerequisites
To add components to the library, you need:
Administrator Role: Only administrators can edit components in the library
Full License: For technical main components (PV modules, inverters, etc.)
Access to Library > Components section
Partner License Users: Users with partner licenses have different workflows and access levels. The component selection process may be more limited for partner license accounts.
Adding Main Components
Main components are the heart of your project planning. Eturnity provides you with a massive, continuously maintained library containing all common components on the market - complete with data sheets, product images, and technical specifications.
Important: You cannot create your own main components - only Eturnity can add these to the Global Eturnity Library. The reason: Main components require precise data sheets, product images, and simulation parameters for accurate calculations and professional proposal generation.
What to Do When a Component is Missing
If you cannot find a main component, simply send the data sheet to support@eturnity.com. The support team will add the component to the global library - then it becomes available to all Eturnity users.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Navigate to Library > Components
You'll see a list of your already added components in the private library.
Click Add component in the toolbar above the component list (top right, next to the filters)
The "Add new component" window opens.
Select the Component Type from the dropdown
Select the Manufacturer
The list is filtered based on the chosen component type.
Search and select the specific Model
Use the search function to search specifically by power or model name (e.g., "550W" for modules).
Click Add
The component is added to your private library and the component detail view opens for further configuration.
Adding Other Components
For service and installation work as well as individual components, you can create "Other Components".
Creating an Other Component
Click Add component in the toolbar in the component overview
Select Other Component as component type
Enter a meaningful Name (Examples: "Module Installation", "Travel Costs", "Consulting Service")
(Optional) Add a Description
This description can later appear in the offer.
(Optional) Enter an internal article number
Select the Technology Affiliation
Click Add
Why is this important? Technology affiliation determines:
Organization: In the bill of materials and proposal, components are grouped by technology
Relevant Selection: During project planning, only relevant components are displayed
Price Dependencies: Certain automatic price scaling options are only available with specific assignments
Assignment Strategies
Specific Assignment: Assign component to only one technology for clearer organization and maximum configuration flexibility
Multiple Assignment: For cross-cutting services like "Project Planning" or "Maintenance" that apply to multiple technologies
Requesting Missing Components
When you cannot find a main component in the global library:
First check if the component already exists in your private library or as archived
Use the search function and filter "Component Status: inactive"
If not found, send the component data sheet to: support@eturnity.com
The support team adds the component to the global library and inform you once done
The component then becomes available to all Eturnity customers.
Follow the steps above "Adding Main Components"
Best Practices
Recommended Approach For Starting To Building Your Private Library
Start Minimal: Initially add only the most important components for your standard offers
Focus on Frequency: Prioritize components you use regularly
Organize Thoughtfully: Use consistent naming and technology assignments while adding other components
Component Descriptions: Add detailed descriptions for "Other Components" that will appear in proposals
Expand Gradually: Add more components as you gain experience
Regular Review: Periodically review your library to remove unused components and add new ones
Internal Article Numbers: Use your own article number
