By default, users are denied access to all special security groups. This security is defined at the user level on the User Maintenance screen on the Special Security Group Security tab by configuring whether to grant or deny access to the available company special security groups. Note that the additional security tabs are available if the User Type is set to <External Client> or if the Has All Assignment Rights check box is unticked for User Types <Internal> or <Internal Read Only> on the General tab on the User Maintenance screen.

Exceptions are made by clicking the

button and selecting the Special Security Group Name exception from the drop down list. To add multiple groups to a user record at once, type the required number in the number box before clicking the

button.

Note that the list of Special Security Groups is configured at the company level on the Special Security Group screen at the company level.

In the example below, the user has been configured to only have access to assignments designated to "Group 1" special security group name. This is indicated by the Default Access Type being set to <Deny> and <Group 1> being set as an exception to that rule.
