Customizing details for the char can be done in the sections below. Additional details on the chart data and color is discussed here. Additional Chart Options can be configured for:

    • No Legend

    • Bottom Left

    • Bottom Center

    • Bottom Right

    • Middle Right

    • Top Left

    • Top Center

    • Top Right

  • Show Export Options

  • Margins: Enter values, in pixels, for the margins surrounding the plot area of the chart. This can be used to accommodate long axis labels, large legends, or give additional padding around charts. Leave any margin setting blank to allow the default automatic calculation

Adding Chart Options to a User Report

First the user report that will be used to provide the data for the widget needs to be created. Once the user report has been created the Chart Options on the user report screen can be used to turn the user report into a chart that will become part of the widget.

Custom Colors: Selecting this option will enable the Chart Colors section below. The Chart Colors section will allow users to pick specific colors to be used in the chart.

Max Chart Rows

If a value is entered here then the chart will only return the maximum number of rows indicated. This option would generally be used if there is large amount data being returned in the user but the widget is intended to reflect a small sampling of that data.

Max Legend Rows

This option can be used to limit the number of items that are displayed in the chart legend. If no value or a value of 0 is provided the legend will display all items. If the list of items in the legend extends the height of the legend then those items can be viewed via an up and down navigation button. If the ‘No Legend’ option is selected in the Legend Location field at the bottom of this screen then this field will be removed from view.

Stacked Chart

This checkbox is only made visible when the selection made in the Chart Type field is Bar or Column. Check this box to display a staked bar chart featuring each series as a portion of a bar or column instead of each data series being its own bar or column. The example below shows a stacked bar chart and a stacked column chart.

Bar Thickness

The visibility of this field is conditional and will only appear when a Bar or Column Chart Type has been selected. A value can be added to this field to dictate the size of each bar or column returned in the chart. Similar to the Chart Height and Chart Width fields the value entered into this field should be in pixels.

Chart Height

The value can be changed to adjust the height of the chart. All charts will default to 265 pixels high. This value can be increased or decreased to properly fit the data displayed in the chart

Chart Width

This value can be changed to adjust the width of the chart. All charts will default to 360 pixels wide. This value can be increased or decreased to properly fit the data displayed in the chart. Restore Defaults

Selecting this button will restore some of the chart settings back to the original default value. These fields include the Color Scheme, Stacked Chart checkbox, Chart Height, Chart Width, Floating Legend checkbox and the Angled Labels checkbox. The button should be used when there is a desire to “restart” the customization of the chart.

Save and Preview

Selecting this button will save any Chart Options that have been selected. This button will also launch a pop-up window that will allow for the preview of the chart. The preview window will show the chart as it has been configured. If the backing user report is prompting for any parameters the preview window will allow for the entry of those parameters. The preview window also includes a Refresh button. Selecting this button will re-run the chart with any newly entered parameters or selected chart options.
