How to apply data encryption and security to a data field

Only certain fields in the Equus Platform supports data encryption and private fields. The list of fields that are supported are found and listed on the Data Encryption and Security screen at the Configuration level.

Encrypted Fields

To encrypt a field, tick the field's Encrypted checkbox and press [Save].

Next press [Encrypt All] to encrypt all the data in the field that contains a value. A banner alert appears confirming the number of fields that have been encrypted.

Users will only be able to view the values of an encrypted field if their security role gives them decryption rights for that specific field. This is configured in the Field Privacy Rights section on the Role Maintenance screen for the user's security role.

If a field is no longer required to be encrypted, untick the field's Encrypted checkbox and press [Save].

Next press [Decrypt All] to remove the encryption on all data in the field that contains a value. A banner alert appears confirming the number of fields that have been decrypted.

Private Fields

To make a field Private, tick the field's Private checkbox and press [Save].

This will automatically make the field Private on data fields.
