Step 7 of 17: Use Vertical Splits and Create Symbolic Vertical Sections

A3.7: Manage different Vertical Section Types

Written by Alexandra Göttert

This completes the View Types section: splitting a vertical section into multiple parts, and displaying one as a symbolic representation.

Prerequisites

  • A saved, rule-based detail section view frame exists.

Steps

Vertical splits

1.) Enable vertical splits. Vertical splits apply to vertical section views and 3D views, via the view frame's Properties → Detail section setting.

2.) Configure the split count and which split to show. Split Count sets how often to split the vertical view; Show sets which split is displayed.

3.) Configure an additional split in the Z-direction. Set an additional split in the Z-direction, and the maximum split height extension.

Symbolic vertical sections

4.) Select a vertical view first. Choose the vertical section view you want to make symbolic.

5.) Change the Symbolic representation property to Yes. Do this via the view frame properties.

6.) Adjust upper/lower visibility and block distance. Change the upper and lower visibility per floor, and the distance between the vertical section blocks.

Result

You can split a vertical section or 3D view — in both count and Z-direction extension — and display a vertical section as a symbolic representation with per-floor visibility and block spacing under your control. This completes the Special View Types  section.
