Step 2 of 16: Create Simple Shaft Groups and Understand the Extended Floor Levels List

EL2.2: Shaft Groups and Floor Levels List

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Prerequisites

  • The practice project LDTrainingSampleGroups.ld3 exists, and you know the two ways to create shaft groups.

Steps

Create simple shaft groups

1.) Create identical elevators via a shaft copy operation. Copy the shaft to create identical elevators — shaft groups created this way can still be edited separately afterward.

2.) Remove an elevator from the group if needed. Remove elevators from a shaft group via the delete icon in the Group and Shaft Configurator.

3.) Create individual (different) elevators via the Group Shaft Wizard. Add a new shaft with its own configuration via the New… button.

4.) Customize the elevator descriptions on the drawing. Customize the existing elevator descriptions via referenced descriptions in the Group and Shaft Configurator.

Understand the extended floor levels list

5.) Understand how the Floor Levels list expands. The Floor Levels list expands automatically with each new elevator added to the group. Shaft head, pit, and floor distances are taken over from the initial shaft by default.

6.) Edit a shaft individually — e.g. the shaft pit. Each shaft is separately editable. For individual modification, set the corresponding check mark to activate it — for example, to edit one shaft's pit independently of the others.

7.) Edit a shaft individually — e.g. the floor level count. Deactivate entrances to change the floor level count for just one shaft in the group.

Result

You can build a shaft group both by copying identical elevators and by adding different ones via the Group Shaft Wizard, remove an elevator if needed, give each its own referenced description, and understand how the Floor Levels list grows automatically while still allowing individual overrides per shaft.
