Step 4 of 16: Create and Save New View Frames for the DST

B2.4: Prepare different View Frames

Written by Alexandra Göttert

This step builds the two plan views (CWT left and CWT right) the rest of the tutorial's rules will load dynamically.

Prerequisites

  • The basic DST sheet and folders exist.

Steps

1.) Create two new plan views. Create the two view frames this tutorial uses: CWT_L and CWT_R.

2.) Prepare your project configurations. Change the car width and car depth to 1600×2000, and add a rear entry to the last floor.

3.) Configure component and dimension visibility. Set up which components and dimensions should be visible in the view.

4.) Modify each view frame. Add new dynamic dimensions to the front and rear entrance, change the shaft ladder position, show the extended component dimension for the ladder, add a description to each plan view ("Plan CWT Left" / "Plan CWT Right"), and remove the holes under the shaft — the last one via the View Frame Overwrites (*operator).

5.) Save the new view frames. Save both view frames inside the MyDST-Viewframe folder created in Step 3, as Plan_CWT_L and Plan_CWT_R. View frames are saved with the .ldf file extension. [ Screenshot: Plan_CWT_L and Plan_CWT_R saved inside MyDST-Viewframe ]

Result

Two finished, saved view frames — Plan_CWT_L and Plan_CWT_R — exist in your DST folder, ready to be linked into a Dynamic Sheet Template's configuration.
