Step 4 of 7: Develop the Lower Part of the Machine Bed

PL10.4: Changing the existing Profiles in the Properties Window by using 3D Parameters

Written by Alexandra Göttert

After this step, the lower part of the machine bed will look like this:

Prerequisites

  • The machine bed and a matching traction machine are loaded together in a Liftdesigner project.

  • The Developer Work Area is open and an existing view frame switched to a Machine Room view.

Steps

1.) Change the first side profile size. For the first existing side profile (the one copied in from Common components), set DX to GFR_BEAM1_DY + GFR_BEAM2_DY - 68 (306 mm), DY to a fixed 68 mm, DZ to a fixed 180 mm, S to a fixed 10 mm, and T to a fixed 10 mm.

You can also fill in the expression [3] for the GFR_BEAM1_DY 3D parameter and [4] for the GFR_BEAM2_DY 3D parameter instead of writing them out in full.

2.) Position the first side profile. Set X0 to -GFR_DX1 + 0.5*PDY (-593.5 mm), Y0 to a fixed 0 mm, and Z0 to 0.5*PDZ + 90 (180 mm).

You can also fill in the expression [5] for the GFR_DX1 3D parameter.

3.) Position the opposite side profile (Profile [0516]/[0517]). Same size as step 14. Set X0 to GFR_DX2 - 0.5*PDY (253.5 mm), Y0 to a fixed 0 mm, and Z0 to 0.5*PDZ + 90 (180 mm).

Tip: Copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) a formula from one row to another instead of retyping it.

You can also fill in the expression [6] for the GFR_DX2 3D parameter.

4.) Size the first cross profile. Set DX to GFR_DX1 + GFR_DX2 (915 mm), DY to a fixed 68 mm, DZ to a fixed 180 mm, S to a fixed 10 mm, and T to a fixed 10 mm.

5.) Position the first cross profile. Set X0 to -GFR_DX1 + 0.5*PDX (-170 mm), Y0 to GFR_BEAM2_DY (187 mm), and Z0 to 0.5*PDZ + 90 (180 mm).

6.) Size and position the opposite cross profile. Same size as previous step. Set X0 to -GFR_DX1 + 0.5*PDX (-170 mm), Y0 to -GFR_BEAM1_DY (-187 mm), and Z0 to 0.5*PDZ + 90 (180 mm).

7.) Size and position the four flat-steel corner profiles (Profile 0–3). All four share the same size: DX a fixed 150 mm, DY a fixed 8 mm, DZ a fixed 150 mm, S and T both a fixed 0 mm. For Profile 0, set X0 to GFR_DX2 - 0.5*PDZ (212.5 mm), Y0 to -GFR_BEAM1_DY - 34 + 0.5*PDX (-146 mm), and Z0 to -0.5*PDY + 90 (86 mm).

  • Profile 1 — X0 GFR_DX2 - 0.5*PDZ (212.5 mm), Y0 GFR_BEAM2_DY + 34 - 0.5*PDX (146 mm), Z0 -0.5*PDY + 90 (86 mm).

  • Profile 2 — X0 -GFR_DX1 + 0.5*PDZ (-552.5 mm), Y0 -GFR_BEAM1_DY - 34 + 0.5*PDX (-146 mm), Z0 -0.5*PDY + 90 (86 mm).

  • Profile 3 — X0 -GFR_DX1 + 0.5*PDZ (-552.5 mm), Y0 GFR_BEAM2_DY + 34 - 0.5*PDX (146 mm), Z0 -0.5*PDY + 90 (86 mm).

8.) Remove leftover characteristic points. Select the characteristic points that were copied in from the original Common components product but are no longer needed, and delete them individually and update the new product in the database to save your progress at this point.

Result

The machine bed's lower frame — side profiles, cross profiles, and the four corner plates — is fully modeled, and leftover characteristic points from the original copy are removed.
