Wizards: Share Data Set
Updated over 2 months ago

The Simple Data Exchange Wizards is a very useful tool to execute quick Data Exchange in a few simple Steps.

The following Manual will explain you the details of how to use the Share Data Set Wizard:

The "Share Data Set" feature in the wizard allows you to seamlessly share data sets across EDCs through a series of guided steps. This document will take you through the entire process.

Step 1: Start the Process

  • Navigate to the Wizards Page

    • On the wizards page, click on ‘Share Data Set’.

  • Launch the Share Data Set Page

    • The ‘Share Data Set’ page will open, guiding you through the process of sharing data across EDCs.
      You will follow these steps:

      • Create or select an existing submodel

      • Create an asset connected to this submodel

      • Create a contract with a defined policy and assigned asset

      • Publish your asset in the Digital Twin Registry (Optional)

  • Proceed to the Next Step

Step 2: Create or Select a Submodel

Option 1: Creating a New Submodel

  • Select the ‘Create New Submodel’ Option

    • Click on ‘Select schema’ to bring up a list of semantic models.

  • Select the Required Semantic Model

    • Choose the appropriate semantic model from the list.

    • If no semantic models appear, ensure your dataspace is properly configured. If needed, exit the wizard to configure your dataspace and add the semantic model service.

  • Use a JSON Template

    • Click on the ‘</> Use JSON Template’ button to load sample data into the File Preview area. You can either:

      • Manually edit the data in the preview area. OR

      • Edit it locally and paste the updated data. OR

      • Upload as a file in JSON or TXT format.

  • Save and Continue

    • Once your data and submodel are ready, save and proceed to the next step: creating an asset.

Option 2: Selecting an Existing Submodel

  • Select a Submodel

    • Click on ‘Select Submodel’ to open a list of existing submodel service components.

  • Choose the Required Submodel Service

    • Select the required submodel service from the list.

  • Select the Appropriate Submodel

    • A list of submodels associated already registered with the selected service will be displayed. Choose the appropriate one. Ensure the data format corresponds to a specific semantic model.

  • Continue to the Next Step

    • The selected submodel will appear in the text area. Save and proceed to the next step: creating an asset

Step 3: Create an Asset

  • Select Your EDC as the Provider

    • If you only have one EDC, it will be automatically selected.

Example for Single EDC:

A screenshot of a computer

Description automatically generated

Example for Multiple EDCs:

  • Name Your Data Asset

    • Enter a name for your asset in the ‘Asset Name’ field.

  • Specify Additional Asset Details (Optional)

    • If needed, click on ‘Specify Asset Details (optional)’ to open a pop-up window where you can edit additional asset properties. This step is optional.

  • Save and Proceed

    • Save the asset and continue to the next step.

  • Review Asset Information

    • After saving, the asset details will be displayed. Review the information and proceed.

Step 4: Create a Contract

  • Define a Policy for the Data Asset

    • There are two types of policies:

  • Access Policy: Restricts who can access the data based on criteria such as BPN, membership credentials, or dismantler.

  • Usage Policy: Restricts how long the data asset can be accessed.

  • Create or Select a Policy

    • By default, ‘Create New Policy’ is enabled.

    • If you prefer to use an existing policy, click on ‘Select existing Policy’ to open a pop-up window with all previously created policies.

  • Attach the Policy to the Asset

    • The asset selected or created in the previous step will be automatically attached to the contract.

  • Fill in Additional Information

    • You can fill in the ‘Created By’ and ‘Description’ fields as needed. Save and proceed to the next step

  • Review the Contract Details

    • The contract details will be displayed. Review them carefully and continue to the next step.

Step 5: Register the Asset in the DTR (Optional)

The Digital Twin Registry (DTR) is a registry for digital twins. Here, the provider publicises digital representations (digital twins) of the assets the participant has data on. This data is encapsulated in submodels accessible via instructions that a consumer will find in the Digital Twin Registry (DTR). The DTR contains only meta-data. >> https://eclipse-tractusx.github.io/docs-kits/kits/Digital%20Twin%20Kit/Operation%20View%20Digital%20Twin%20Kit

  • Register Digital Twin in the Digital Twin Registry (DTR)

    • This step is optional. If you choose to register, select a Digital Twin Registry (DTR) and choose the appropriate (previously created) DTR component from the pop-up window.

Review and Edit Metadata (Shell Descriptor)/Digital Twin

  • A template of the metadata (Shell Descriptor) will appear. Edit the details only where needed.

  • Once everything is set, click ‘Register to DTR’ to finish the process.

  • Great News!! Your data asset is now ready to be accessed by the consumer.
