Overview
This article explains what information is required to move an opportunity into each status, and how the Transition Status workflow operates.
Depending on its current status, an opportunity can only be moved to specific other statuses. To move to a new status, certain fields must be completed. The Transition Status workflow guides users through exactly what is required for each specific transition.
How the Transition Status workflow works
Editing an opportunity and changing its status are two separate actions.
To update details on an opportunity without changing its status, use the standard Edit action. This allows any field to be updated at any time without triggering a status change.
To move an opportunity to a new status, use the Transition Status button. A modal window will appear showing only the fields required to complete that specific transition. If a required field has already been filled in, it will appear in the modal pre-populated with the existing value. Once all required fields have been completed, the opportunity can be saved and it will move into the new status.
Field requirements by status
The table below shows what is required for each status.
Yes means the field is mandatory for the opportunity to be in that status.
No means the field is optional for that status, but it is always good practice to complete it where possible.
N/A means the field is not available for input when transitioning to that status. Actual savings and cost fields are only available when moving an opportunity into a Realised state.

A note on Resources
Resources are now configurable at the site level and multiple resources can be added to a single opportunity. Each resource is defined by a Subject and a Quantity, for example Electricity (Energy) or Natural Gas (Volume). Resources available on an opportunity are drawn from the Site Resource Table configured for that site.
For more information on configuring site resources, see the Site Resource Table article.
