Reservations on all UK trains, except for sleeper services, are optional. You can board any train, find an empty unreserved seat, and show your Interrail Pass if asked.
Some operators listed in the Interrail app, including LNER, Transpennine Express, and Avanti West Coast, may appear to require reservations. For normal ticket holders, this is not the case.
If you’re travelling on a long-distance service and your Journey Guide doesn’t show a reservation, please contact our In-Trip team. We’ll be happy to check availability and help secure a reservation for you if needed!
