You can use your QR code to open platform gates in certain countries, for example France (TER gates only), Italy, and the Netherlands. You’ll just need to hold your code up to the scanner, and the gates will open.
If the gates don’t open, or if scanning isn’t possible, please speak to a station staff member and they’ll be happy to help you through.
For certain high-speed or long-distance services that require reservations (especially where access to specific platforms is controlled, like high-speed platforms), you may need to use the barcode on your seat reservation rather than your pass.
For example, this applies to high-speed TGV services in France.
