Adding Medication to the Pot in Atlas eMAR
Adding a medication to the pot in Atlas eMAR confirms that the resident’s medication has been prepared for administration.
Medications displayed in red (due) must be administered during the round.
Medications displayed in white should be reviewed for administration for each resident in every round.
The medication should be added to the pot on the device before the resident takes it. The pot should only be confirmed once the resident has been observed swallowing the medication without spitting it out or discarding it.
If a medication is added to the pot but the resident refuses it, the user must update the medication record by changing the status from “added to pot” to “not given” and select the appropriate reason. The system will automatically adjust the stock level to account for the wasted medication, and the medication can be attempted again later if appropriate.
Process for Adding Medication to the Pot:
Synchronise the device before starting any medication round.
Log in to Atlas eMAR to begin the round.
From the resident’s medication list, either:
Scan the dispensing label for the item you wish to administer, or
Select the item manually on the screen if no barcode label is available.
Adding Medication to the Pot (Manual vs. Scanned Selection)
Manual Selection:
If the item is chosen manually, a drop‑down box will appear. From this menu, select “Add to Pot".
Scanned Label:
If the medication’s dispensing label is scanned, the quantity screen will display. Enter the amount of medication to be administered, then select “Add to Pot.”
3. Once you have added all items you wish to give to the resident to the pot, select confirm pot at the top of the screen.
Confirming Medication in the Pot
On the screen, each section will display a number. This number represents the quantity of items in the pot and must match the actual number of tablets, capsules, or liquids placed in the physical pot.
Once you are satisfied that the information shown on the screen is accurate, select Sign eMAR to complete the administration for that resident.
After all medication administrations have been completed, don’t forget to synchronise the device.
