Before You Start

Before you can use your barcode scanner, it needs to be configured to enable CAPA to recognise the types of barcodes you can scan.

As mentioned in the Peripherals section of Hardware Requirements, the scanner needs to recognise 1D and 2D barcodes, and must be configurable.

Set up Process

1. Assemble the scanner and stand (if one exists) and plug the scanner into a rear USB port on the PC

2. Use the Barcode Scanner to scan the configuration barcodes. After each scan the device will beep.

3. After config is complete, open Notepad (Search > Notepad)

4. In Notepad, scan any item with a barcode on, and ensure the text produced in notepad is prefixed with a dollar sign ($), and the cursor goes to the next line.
