Medication is mainly added to the patients repeat med record during the prescription entry process or via the PCS device at the home however you may be requested to add directly to the repeat med record by the home or GP.
To add a new medication follow this process
1. Search for the patient using the F9 functionality or via the care home dashboard. To view the patient record select enter on the keyboard or highlight the record and select details.
2. Select the repeat med tab.
3. Select new, add any relevant notes to the record and the requester details. Confirm when you want this medication to start by selecting one of the options under the when is this change to affect the patient section then select next.
4. Search for the product by typing a few characters of the drug name. You can input the strength to narrow the search (e.g. Para 500). In addition, if the item is a dressing with a specific order number, you can type this as well, select next.
5. Type the dosage prescribed, any additional information can be inputted in the section below the dosage search box then select next.
6. Confirm the time(s) you want the drug to prompt on PCS if applicable and select next.
7. Review all information on the RFC screen once completed select finish.
Tips
The home will need to synchronise the device to download any new/updated information.
Post-dated medication will not display until the selected date.
