When performing a clinical check in CAPA, for medical products you have the option to make the drug prompt on Atlas PCS in the Care Home.
This helps the nurse manage the medicines by prompting when due based on the times of administration. This is controlled by the Dosage record entered on CAPA.
When searching for a dosage, you will need to follow the CAPA format for structured dosages.
The structure is as follows:
[Method of Administration] [Quantity given per administration] [Frequency of administration] [when required if PRN]
For example:
Take ONE five times a day when required
[Method of Administration] Take [Quantity given per administration] ONE [Frequency of administration] five times a day [when required if PRN] when required
You may be familiar with entering dosage information by using the quantity given as the leading word (e.g. ONE to be taken...). This will not yield any search results.
Tips:
If you are unable to find the dosage, try pressing SPACE as the first character, followed by part of the dosage you are trying to find
Avoid using particular uncommon words that are not part of the format (for example, "Take ONE each day" will show no results, but "Take ONE day" will show all the dosages containing those words
There are shortcodes for common dosages (e.g. T1 D = Take ONE a day). These display on the right hand side.
