OVERVIEW
CAPA contains legacy “Doses” that have been set up incorrectly, which could result in harm to residents in Care Homes who use Atlas eMAR.
This guide provides details of how CAPA doses are intended to be set up and how the various fields should be populated.
CAPA
The CAPA dosage screen allows PCS staff to add/alter a dose that pharmacies can enter when they receive a prescription.
The dose includes a set of parameters that CAPA will then use to tell both CAPA and Atlas how much and how often medication is due.
If the dose is “Take ONE a DAY” the pharmacy cannot enter 2 times of administration or any quantity other than ONE.
CAPA doses do NOT need the form of the medication (i.e. tablets) to be included.
There are no sanity checks built into CAPA to stop the user from entering an incorrect dose.
Atlas eMAR
Unlike CAPA which just has a dose that tells the software who much medication should be prompted and how often, the Atlas eMAR app has two points of entry:
• Free text dosage (what we as humans read)
• Schedule (tells the software when and how much medication is required)
