Release notes for August 2024

Updated over 9 months ago

There have been a few updates and bug fixes in Local Area Energy Planner Plus (LAEP+). In the background, we're working on some major new features and datasets - so watch this space for further updates later in the year.

Sharing existing plans and forecasts with my DNO

Users can now explicitly choose to share datasets/files with their Distribution Network Operator. This is intended to enable users to share plans, policies and other relevant items with their DNO. You can access this via Map>Upload>Upload and share an existing plan or forecast.

Don’t worry you can still upload private datasets as usual via ‘Upload Data’ which will not be shared.

Enhancement: Applying recommended settings when using bulk selection

To make it easier to build projects using the Renewable Potential datasets integrated with the platform, users can now choose to 'Apply recommended settings' when building a project with ‘Bulk Selection’. This will deploy an asset to all buildings in the selected area where Overall Suitability is True and will even deploy the asset with the recommended size.

Adding configs and multiple datasets to a single data story section

Data story creators are now able to add multiple datasets to a single Map entry and set custom configurations for each dataset - such as overlay order, fill colour and stroke. This makes it easier to build up a story about a potential development site or rationale for a plan.

URL based navigation improvements

You can now directly link other users to pages within the application. This will allow users clicking on links within emails or links shared by others to direct them straight to the relevant page after login.

Previously users were always navigated to the Home page regardless of URL.

Enhancements and fixes

Some general visual enhancements and bug fixes, including:

  • On Data Stories, creators no longer need to click 'Save' on each individual section; now, the global 'Save and Publish' button will save all sections simultaneously.

  • Project carbon assessments are now provided per address in exports

  • County users can now run scenarios more consistently. Previously dataset sizes could result in this timing out

  • Resolved an intermittent bug where adding datasets to a project interferes with the deployment of assets

  • Resolved a bug that led to exports being generated multiple times for filtered datasets

As always, you can find ‘how-to’ guides and video guides in the LAEP+ Knowledgebase, as well as Live Chat support.
