In this guide we will go over the Tag Installation step for AdOpt — one of the six essential configuration steps for your Disclaimer on AdOpt.
💡 Tip: We recommend leaving this step for last, as they are prerequisites for the installation to work properly.
This step is dedicated to installing and monitoring the installation status of the AdOpt Tag on your website. The way the Tag is installed can affect its functioning, and this will become clearer throughout the guide.

5 AdOpt will scan your website to detect the installation. This may take a few moments.

Following all these steps, your Cookie Banner will be installed!
Installation via Code
Paste the HTML code of the AdOpt Tag into your website’s header (<head>). Don’t forget to Save and Publish the changes to your site.
The activation performance of the AdOpt Tag is very fast. Once on the site, check the activation and functioning of the Cookie Banner.
Return to the AdOpt platform, clear the cache by refreshing the page, and after a few minutes go to the Installation section of your Disclaimer and click Check Installation.
Installation via Plug-in (Tray Commerce, WordPress, etc.)
It is also possible to install the Tag through an integration inside the platform where your website is hosted.
AdOpt is working to simplify installation on platforms like Tray Commerce, WordPress, VTEX, and more.
Check the Help Center section “Platforms and Integrations” to see all integrations available in AdOpt.
Check Your Installation
Click Check Installation to start an automated analysis on your website. Each configuration step of the Cookie Banner in the AdOpt platform will be evaluated, followed by checking the installation on your website — based on the URLs you registered when creating the Disclaimer.
If you need to change the URLs, follow this tutorial.
If all steps are successfully completed, the Installation step will be marked as completed.
Analysis Results (Warnings and Errors)
After installation verification, AdOpt will display analysis results which may include Warnings and Errors.
Warnings (yellow)
These indicate whether the code was installed correctly or if there are improvements that can be made.
They do not necessarily prevent the Cookie Banner from appearing, but they may affect essential Tag functions. It is important to review these alerts carefully to ensure Tag performance.
Example of Warnings
Below is a common warning that may appear:
In most cases, warnings do not affect Tag activation, but it is worth reviewing the details:
In the example, the Tag was not installed in the <head> of your website.
A Tag installed in the <head> is given priority over other services on the site, which can ensure better performance for the AdOpt Tag and proper functioning of features that depend on AdOpt being activated before services listed in the banner.
One example is Tag Blocking — an essential step to ensure your site complies with visitor privacy.
📢 Important: The AdOpt Tag must come before all non-essential Tags on your site. Combined with the configuration of the Tag Blocking, these Tags will only be activated after explicit consent from the visitor.
In this second example, the Tag's class was changed, which may affect its behavior. Check if the Cookie Banner is appearing on your site. If it is working normally, you may ignore this alert.
💡 Tip: In some cases, modifying the Tag’s content may interfere with its activation, as explained in the Cache Error guide.
Errors (red)
These indicate that the system detected issues in the activation or behavior of the Tag.
Error messages are critical and interfere with the functioning of AdOpt.
Example of Errors
The error below indicates that the Tag was not installed or is not yet present on the site.
By clicking the arrow (as shown in the previous screenshot), you can see detailed information about the error message. It will display:
an error code (Tag Not Installed)
a screenshot from the analysis moment (Print screen)
a suggested solution (Correct Code)
Monitor the Installation
In the AdOpt dashboard you can configure periodic installation checks. Depending on your plan, you can choose a weekly or monthly frequency and register an email to receive the analysis results.
