Explanatory notes

Capacity

  • With exception of significant announcements, new capacity will be combined and updated once every quarter

Consumption

  • We update the consumption data twice a year. The April update is right after the moment that the full year trade statistics are in of the last full year and the October update is done after all first half year trade statistics are in

Trade Statistics

  • All sources cover both imports and exports. By mirroring the data of the export sources in our self-developed model to clean, structure and normalize the data, 98-99% of the total monthly trade volume is covered

  • Eurostat has a delay of 1 month for intra-EU trade, meaning that extra-EU is in ~1.5 month after the month is closed, and intra-EU ~2.5 month after the month is closed

Shipment Intelligence

World means in total 75 countries for shipment intelligence, of which 25+ countries file "customs" and the rest is based on so called "mirror data". In short this means:

  • Customs = is provided by customs of that country and we have full data of its trade.  For example, India makes its data available directly for all shipments by road, sea, and air so it includes data of all importers in India

  • Mirror = refers to additional Bill of Lading data and customs records given by trade partners. Additional Bill of Lading data is provided by sources other than customs
