How long will my updates take?

What happens after the customer submits their information, and when they might need to check with organisations themselves.

SlothMove’s job is to save you time and effort by sending address update notifications on your behalf—but we don’t control how long each organisation takes to action them. That means timings can vary.

Here’s what to expect right now:

  • Driving licence & V5C (vehicle log book)

    • Driving licence (online): around 3 weeks—usually quicker, but can take longer if checks are needed.

    • V5C:

      • Online: usually arrive in 5 days

      • By post: typically 1–6 weeks; many get it in 2–4 weeks

  • HMRC, DWP, Council Tax, Water, TV Licence

    • These updates are dispatched immediately, but often no confirmation is sent.

    • We recommend waiting 6–8 weeks before contacting them if you're unsure it's gone through.

  • NHS (GP & hospital)

    • Typically no confirmation, and changes can take up to 3 weeks to appear.

    • If you’ll need medication or treatment soon, contact your doctor’s surgery before switching so your prescriptions remain uninterrupted.

  • Energy suppliers

    • Update sent immediately. Processing speed varies—if you need proof of change (e.g., for new pricing), give the supplier a call after a couple of weeks.

After your updates are dispatched, we'll send you an email with a summary of your move which includes the exact date and time we sent each notification. That way you can be certain your updates have been sent.
