Overview
From 1st November 2025, Phoenix will introduce a monthly low spend surcharge for hospital customers. This change is designed to support our sustainability goals by reducing the carbon impact of small order deliveries and addressing rising operational costs.
What is Changing?
Non-NHS accounts with a monthly spend below £7,500 will incur a £350 surcharge.
NHS accounts are completely exempt from this surcharge.
This applies at account level, not group level. Each account’s spend is assessed independently.
Who is Exempt?
The surcharge will not apply to:
NHS accounts.
Accounts spending more than £7,500 per month.
Accounts that exclusively purchase solus products.
Accounts that are open but do not place any orders.
Why Are We Making This Change?
To reduce carbon emissions linked to small deliveries.
To manage increasing operational cost pressures.
To ensure sustainable and efficient operations for all customers.
