For some EAL qualifications, practice exams have also been made available to be taken on a browser. This would allow a learner or staff member to attempt the practice exam without having to schedule it through Surpass first.

Not every practice exam is available in this way. Please inquire with our Exams Team via exams@eal.org.uk to find out if the exam of your choice can be taken in this way.

There are certain limitations about these practice exams that you should be aware of:

  • Any attempts made via the exam link will not be associated with any candidate profile. Therefore, you will not be able to download a Candidate Breakdown Report.

  • At the end of the exam, learners will be able to see whether they passed or failed, and see how many marks they scored.

  • These packaged exams can only be attempted through the Surpass Viewer browser (please see instructions below on how to download this).

Requirements for running packaged practice exams:

  • Internet Connection - An internet connection is required to run this type of exam.

  • Surpass Viewer Browser - Install Surpass Viewer via this link - https://viewer.surpass.com/

  • Links - A link for the exam in question (if available) has to be obtained from the Exams Team at EAL

How to run the packaged practice exams:

  1. Once you have installed Surpass Viewer, enter the relevant link provided by the EAL Exams Team into the URL address bar and press Enter on your keyboard.

  2. The link can be used as many times as required and be entered on multiple computers at the same time.

  3. When the link is entered this screen will appear with a prepopulated Keycode – ABCD1234.

  4. Click OK to proceed and run the exam.

For more information, please contact the EAL Exams Team via exams@eal.org.uk.
