Important: Shares and ETFS are not offered by XTB Ltd (Cy)

Most traders tend to have a diversified portfolio by having different types of stocks including shares from all over the world. If you have a UK trading account and want to buy shares from the US, the US government will charge you tax on any income you make due to the fact you are not a US citizen.

Essentially, if you complete a W8-BEN form, you lower the withholding tax for dividends and interests from 30% to 15%. You can access the W8-BEN form online via the Client Office and we encourage you to fill this out if you want to invest in US shares.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact a member of our sales team at +44 2036953085 or by emailing us at uksales@xtb.com.
