Sometimes, during a maintenance visit or callout, our engineers identify issues that need extra attention to keep your system working safely and reliably.

These follow-up jobs are called Remedial Works — and they’re a key part of keeping your alarm or fire system fully operational and compliant.

🧾 What Are Remedial Works?

Remedial works are any repairs, replacements, or upgrades needed to bring your system back to its proper working condition.
They can include:

  • Replacing faulty detectors, keypads, or sounders

  • Upgrading a control panel or communicator

  • Replacing expired batteries or damaged wiring

  • Adding new devices or improving coverage

Every remedial job is quoted through a Defect Quote, which clearly outlines:

  • What needs doing

  • The parts and labour involved

  • The total fixed price

👷 What Happens During a Remedial Works Appointment

  • Once you approve the quote, we’ll book a convenient date and time.

  • On the day, your engineer will:

    1. Arrive within the agreed time slot (morning or afternoon).

    2. Confirm the work to be carried out.

    3. Complete the repairs or upgrades using approved components.

    4. Test the system thoroughly after completion.

    5. Record and update your service log to confirm the system is restored to full working order.

If additional issues are discovered during the visit, we’ll always discuss them with you before taking any further action.

💡 Why It’s Important to Approve and Complete Remedial Works

Carrying out remedial works promptly ensures:

  • Your system remains fully compliant with NSI and Police/Fire standards.

  • False alarms are reduced, protecting your Police response status.

  • Insurance cover stays valid, as most policies require systems to be maintained and operational.

  • Future costs are avoided, as minor faults can quickly escalate into larger repairs.

Delaying remedial work may cause recurring faults, loss of Police response, or even system failure — leaving your property unprotected.

💳 Invoicing & Payment

  • You’ll only be invoiced once the remedial works are completed.

  • Payment terms: within 7 days (Direct Debit clients are charged automatically).

  • All work is carried out by our NSI Gold-approved engineers using certified parts.

In summary:

  • Remedial works fix or upgrade your system after a fault is found.

  • You’ll always receive a clear, fixed-price Defect Quote before work begins.

  • Approving and completing these works keeps your system compliant, reliable, and fully protected.
