Huel powder products all use the same scoop, but a level scoop weighs a different amount depending on which product you're using. This is completely normal — and the reason is bulk density.
What is bulk density?
Bulk density describes how densely a powder packs into a set volume. Each Huel powder product is made from a different combination of ingredients at different inclusion levels, which means the powder particles pack together differently. A denser powder will give a heavier level scoop; a lighter powder will give a lighter one — even when using the exact same scoop, filled to the exact same level.
Why does Huel Diet Powder weigh more per scoop than Huel Black Edition Powder?
Huel Diet Powder has a slightly higher bulk density than Huel Black Edition Powder, due to the different ingredients in each formula. This means that when you fill the scoop level, Huel Diet Powder packs in slightly more grams than Huel Black Edition Powder — even though the scoop is physically identical.
Product | Weight per level scoop | Recommended serving |
Huel Black Edition Powder | 45g | 2 level scoops (90g) |
Huel Diet Powder | 52g | 1 level scoop (52g) |
The difference in gram weight per scoop is intentional and accurate — it reflects the different formulations of each product, not a problem with your scoop or your technique.
For maximum accuracy: weigh your portions
Scoops are a convenient guide, but they are not always perfectly consistent. Slight variations in how the powder settles, or how the scoop is filled, can affect the result. If you want to be precise with your portions — especially if you are tracking calories or macros closely — we recommend weighing your serving on kitchen scales rather than relying on the scoop alone.
