How do I work with Groups in Trackunit Manager?

Working with groups helps you organize and segment your assets to match your operational structure.

Updated today

You can create focused views for a specific set of assets, control user access, and use groups when setting up alerts or generating reports.

How groups work

Groups act as simple workspaces that let you focus on a subset of your assets or structure them in a way that fits your business.

Examples of groups:

  • By Site - Assets located at a certain site

  • By Customer - Assets shared with a certain customer

  • By Region - Assets available in a specific region

  • By Depot - Assets managed by a certain branch office

  • 24V Machines - For monitoring 24V electric equipment

  • Sold Equipment - Sold equipment waiting for transfer

You need the correct permissions to create or edit groups:

  1. Go to the Administration page and select the Users tab

  2. Select the user that needs permission

  3. Under Classic Rights, tick Updating rights under the module 'Settings'

  4. Click Confirm

  2. Go to the Groups page in the Configure section of the navigation bar

  3. Click Create group in the top-right corner

  4. Enter a group name and, optionally, add a description

  5. Click Next

  6. Assign assets to the group:

    • Tick the checkbox next to each asset you want to add

    • Use the asset search to find assets by name, brand, type, model, production year, VIN, or external reference

    • To add multiple assets, enter the device serial numbers, separated by commas

  7. Click Next

  8. Assign people to the group that should have access to the assets in the group

Note: People who already have access to all assets will automatically see your new groups.

  9. Click Next
