Using the intercom function

Learn how to use the intercom function to talk privately with students in a booth.

Background

If necessary, you can activate an intercom function to talk privately with the student, without other booths hearing what is being discussed.

Procedure

Attention:
This article applies to interpreterQ v2.0 and later.

When you use dual booths (two students in each booth), the intercom function has some additional options compared to single booths. Therefore, we describe the dual booth scenario here.

To use the intercom function, proceed as follows:

  1. In the Room screen, select the booth you want to communicate with. The booth's detail screen is shown as a sidebar next to the classroom view.

  2. To communicate with both students, click the large Intercom button.

  3. To communicate with only one of the students, click the smaller Intercom button next to the student's name instead.

  4. When you click an Intercom button, a Share Intercom button appears next to it:

  5. Click this Share intercom with the class button if you want the whole class to follow the ongoing intercom conversation.

  6. Click the left arrow in the upper left corner to close the student sidebar and stop monitoring.

Info:
When you monitor a booth with the interpreterQ software, the channel selector hardware reflects that action: its display shows the monitored booth number, just as if you had used the channel selector buttons. When you leave the monitor function in the software, the channel selector display reverts to "FLOOR" for the left and right channels.
