Managing discounts and service charges

Add and edit discounts and service charges in the Back Office and Tebi App

You can add and edit discounts and service charges in the Tebi Back Office and the Tebi App. These are percentage amounts that are applied to the bill. Fractional values are supported β€” for example, 12.5% is valid for both discounts and service charges.

*Check your permissions before starting, only Team Lead, Manager and Owner can manage discounts or service charges in Tebi.

What's the difference between discounts and service charges?

A % that gets added to the total cost of the products before taxes

A 10% surcharge for sales on tables outside

Adding and editing discounts and service charges

In the Back Office:

Discounts

Go to

Click on

'+ New discount'

Fill in

Discount Name

Select the type

No type needs to be selected, only 1 type of discounts

Add

% to be discounted

Service Charges

Mandatory surcharge (+)

Gratuity

Go to

Click on

'+ New service charge'

'+ New service charge'

Fill in

Reason field to indicate the purpose of the charge'

Select the type

Option 1: Mandatory Surcharge -> *Surcharges are taxed

Option 2: Gratuity -> *Optional tip that is not taxed

Optional Toggles for Discounts and Service Charges:

  • Apply to Counter Sales: Toggle on or off

  • Apply to Service Sales: Toggle on or off

  • Apply to Areas or Tables: Include or exclude tables or areas of preferance

  • Apply before discounts:

    • Discounts: Not applicable

    • Mandatory Surcharge: Toggle on or off

    • Gratuity: Not applicable

  • Surcharge before discounts: Toggle on to apply all mandatory surcharges before any discounts are calculated.

  • Saves Changes: Click save and your discount will be ready in the app

To edit, select the discount or service charge you want to edit and adjust the fields described above.

In the Tebi App:

Open the Tebi App and click on the Menu icon top left

Click on

'Products' and access the Settings menu by clicking the 3 dots on the upper right corner

Extra information about surcharges on invoices

Surcharges on B2B invoice previews

Surcharges applied to a sale are shown on B2B invoice previews. The subtotal breakdown will include the surcharge line item so the invoice total is fully transparent before sending.

Tax display on discounted B2B invoices

When a discount is applied to a B2B invoice, the tax amounts calculate and display correctly.
