Control Access with Access Reviews

Updated over 8 months ago

Access Reviews allow you to easily reassess whether or not certain users still need to be a part of a given Team by scheduling a date when the Team Owner has to go through all Team members and allow/reject their access.

Once an Access Review is triggered, you'll receive an Adaptive Card as a reminder. That same card allows you to quickly glance over all of your users and easily continue or revoke their access to the corresponding Team.

⚙️ Setting Up Access Reviews

Access Reviews are a part of Policies and thus can only be set up after the rest of the rules have been specified.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Policies and either click on your existing Policy Package or create a new one.

  2. Click Next until you're on the Access check step of the procedure.

  3. Enable the Access Review toggle and set the number of days after which you'd like the Access Review to be triggered (can be 7, 30, 90, or 180 days).

  4. Once you've specified your desired Review Window, you can set the number of days after which you'll be reminded to conduct it (given that you didn't conduct it on the same day).

  5. Specify who can perform an access check, whether it be the Owner, Approver, or Both.

  6. The Enable posting in the team toggle will automatically send a message to the Team after an Access Review has been conducted.

  7. The Hide inactive members and the last activity date toggle does exactly what you'd expect it to and stops displaying members whose access has been revoked as a result of the Access Check.

  8. Once you're done setting up Access Reviews, click on Next and make sure to update both your Policy and the Execution when prompted.

🏅 Final Results

Once it's time to conduct your Access check, you'll receive the corresponding notification in the Chat tab, and you'll be able to begin the procedure by clicking the Check members button.

You'll end up on the Review members screen, where you can either Allow or Reject access for each individual present within the team. Those whose access will be Rejected will be removed from the Team.
