What is an "overspeeding event"?

An overspeeding event is recorded by the tachograph when the vehicle stays above its set speed limit for a certain amount of time.

The tachograph monitors the vehicle's speed while driving and saves these events in its data. Once the tachograph file is uploaded to Tachogram, the recorded events are displayed in the "Overspeeding events" section.

👤 Available for:

  • Company accounts: Admin and Manager users.

Where to find them

Vehicles → select vehicle → Overspeeding events

What each shows

Every overspeeding event in the Speed events table gives you the same set of details, so you can judge how severe it was at a glance.

Column

What it shows

Start

When the overspeeding began

End

When it ended

Duration

How long it lasted

Max. speed

The fastest speed the vehicle reached during the event, in km/h

Avg. speed

The vehicle's average speed for the whole event, in km/h

Similar events

How many other similar overspeeding events the tachograph found for that vehicle

Driver

The driver whose card was in the tachograph at the time, linked to their driver profile; if no driver is matched, this shows the card number instead

Because Max. speed, Avg. speed, and Duration sit side by side, you can tell how fast the vehicle was going and for how long, without having to check the raw tachograph data yourself.

Spotting patterns across events

The "Similar events" count and the "Driver" column work well together. If a vehicle has several similar events, especially with the same driver, it may point to a pattern worth looking into. This can help you identify repeated speeding and decide whether further action is needed.

Speed events can also be filtered by date and by type. For steps, see:
