Contact attributes are basically values that contain properties of a contact they are associated with. The most common contact attributes include first name, last name, and gender - these are already created as defaults in Superchat. Attributes can be described according to the data type of the value, e.g. text, number or date.

Contact attributes in Superchat help you visualize important information about a contact and help you filter contacts or create segments to personalize chats. Contact attributes can also be used as building blocks in templates.

In addition to the default attributes, you can create and manage your own in  Superchat.

2. How do I create a contact attribute in Superchat?

Click on your initials in the upper right corner and then click on Settings

Select Contacts &gt; Contact Attributes on the left hand side

Enter a name for the attribute and select the data type:

1. Text
2. Number
3. Date
4. Date + time
5. Single selection
6. Multiple selection

Click on Create. Done! 👏

3. Click New Contact Attribute 

4. Enter a name for the attribute and select the data type:
 1. Text
 2. Number
 3. Date

5. Click on Create. Done! 👏

💡 Hint: Contact attributes can be imported from other systems, but the formatting is important. You can find all information about this in our article <a href="https://intercom-help.eu/superx/en/articles/14964-how-do-i-import-contacts">import contacts</a>.

You can easily manage, edit and sort contact attributes you created.

Click on Contacts (at the top navigation menu)

In the dropdown menu, click on the little dotted icon next to the attribute you want to move

Drag the attribute to the desired position and release it

By clicking the small dot (right), you can show (green) or hide (gray) attributes in your view.

Click on the attribute you want to filter your contacts by

You can now set your desired filter using an indicator and text field

1. Click on Contacts (at the top navigation menu)
2. Select Add filter
3. Click on the attribute you want to filter your contacts by

Simply click on the attribute you want to edit

Click on the little trash can icon next to the attribute you want to delete

A pop-up window will open for you to confirm the deletion. Click Delete.

❗Deleting a contact attribute cannot be undone.

Click in the conversation with the person whose contact attributes you want to see

Click on Contact in the upper right corner to open the pop up menu

Click on Contact information. Here you will see all the attributes that are stored in Superchat and you can fill them in as you wish.
