Payment and payment method
Updated over a week ago

In Spond, group admins can invite you to events that require a fee to attend, and they can also create payment requests for these events. To be able to make payments to events or payment requests, you need to add a payment method.

How to pay and add a payment method

You can only add a payment method if you've received a payment request or have been invited to an event with a registration fee. When you register the payment method to complete the transaction, you can choose whether you want to save the information for future use.

⚠️ NOTE!
We will never store your card details. Payments are handled by our payment processing partner Stripe, which has the highest PCI certification. Read more about payment methods here.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the payment method I have entered?

It's not possible to change a payment method you've already entered. You can delete it and enter a new one the next time you are sent a payment request.

What payment methods does Spond support?

We support Visa, MasterCard and Amex.

I'm having trouble making a payment, what's wrong?

There may be several reasons why your payment is not processing:

  • Your payment card has expired

  • Incorrect card number is entered

  • Problems with your card issuer

  • Failed 3D verification or Bank ID verification

I get the error message 'The payment could not be processed, you've probably entered the wrong card number', but I know I have entered the correct card number. What do I do?

This error message usually means that the recipient's payment method hasn't been verified and therefore can't receive payments. If this is the case, the club that sent the payment must verify its payment account. You can contact the admin of the group to resolve the issue.

What can I do if I have technical problems paying?

In case of payment problems, we recommend trying the following:

  1. Check if it works to pay via the web version: Login here with the same username and password you use in the app

  2. Try different browsers

  3. Check if it works to pay if you switch off wifi and are on 4G/5G at the moment

  4. If the card is stored in Spond, remove it and insert manually.

  5. Try a different card
