What to check before updating your firmware

  1. If updates are available for both, you’ll need to update your Chime before you update your Video Doorbell.

  2. Before starting your firmware upgrade, ensure sure that both the Video Doorbell and Chime are online. The easiest way to check this is to make sure you can access the live stream or successfully receive notifications of a doorbell press.

  3. It is best to perform the updates while the devices are next to each other, this will prevent any issues occurring with loss of connection.

  4. Your Video Doorbell should be charged before starting the update, it will not be successful if it is not online and turned on. You cannot perform the update while it is charging, so make sure to do this before.

Checking for updates

To check if you need to upgrade your firmware or if you have been notified about an available upgrade, you’ll need to open the settings tab on the home screen and select the device you wish to update. Go to the device settings and under 'device updates' select ‘update available’. If there is an available upgrade, you’ll have the option to select 'update now.'

You can then repeat this process for the Video Doorbell if this device also has an available upgrade.

How long should the update take?

The update could take around five minutes. It’s important to not close the Sky Protect app or unplug any of your devices during the upgrade.
