Manual arming.

Turn on and tune in or switch off

You can arm your home at any time to get alerts from your smart devices. To stop getting the alerts, disarm your home. Just switch the arm toggle at the top of the app home page at any time.

When your home is armed, the toggle will turn to blue. You can arm manually at any time, even if you have set up Auto arming or Security Scheduling.

Auto arming.

Devices come on when they’re home alone

Auto arming tells your smart devices it’s time to do their thing when you head out. And they turn off as soon as you get back home. To turn it on, select the ‘settings’ tab at the bottom of your Sky Protect app home screen, then ‘auto arming’ and ‘enable’.

Once enabled, the Sky Protect app will ask to be able to track your smartphone’s location. This means you it will be able to automatically arm and disarm your alerts when you go out or return home. The app will show your insured address on the map automatically. So, once you enable auto arming, you’re good to go.

The circle you’ll see around your home is called the ‘geofence’. Once you leave this area the home will arm. Then disarm when you return to it. You can make this circle larger or smaller in-app.

If you have multiple people within your home, auto arming will come on when everyone in your home has left the ‘geofence area’. It will disarm when one or more of you have arrived home.

You’ll get an in-app notification when your home has automatically armed or disarmed. So, make sure your notifications are enabled, as well as location services for the app for this smart feature to work. You’ll be prompted to enable location services when you first download the Sky Protect app.

For some Andriod devices, you may need to disable 'battery optimisation' for the Sky Protect app. For more information on how to do this, see our Battery Optimisation help page.

Smart tip

Always ensure on the home screen of your Sky Protect app, the main arming switch is set to ‘off’ if you are using Auto Arming.

Security Scheduling.

So your devices know when it’s showtime

To get notifications of movement and sound from your smart devices, you’ll need to arm your home. You can schedule this arming and disarming to happen automatically within set times using the Security Scheduling feature on your Sky Protect app. Here’s how:

  • Select the ‘settings’ tab at the bottom of the Sky Protect app home screen.

  • Select ‘Security Scheduling'.

  • Set a time to automatically arm your home each day.

  • Set a time to automatically disarm your home each day.

  • Hit ‘save’.

Good to know: If you have Auto arming enabled, this will take priority. Your home will stay armed if you go out and it’s set to disarm during this time. Your home will then disarm as usual when you get back.
