Add a hyperlink to a learning path

Learning Paths are containers for one or more activities (including SCORM/AICC content developed outside Skillcast) that can be assigned to users directly and/or via Audience groups and have a deadline date attached.

You may want to include a URL into a learning path and assign that to a user. To add an hyperlink activity to a learning path follow the below steps.

  1. Click on Management Console at the top of your homepage and Click on Content Management from the right-hand-side menu called ‘Management Console’.

  2. You can then use the search form to search for an existing learning path using a keyword or you choose a domain and hit search to find all learning paths in that domain. Click on the learning path code you are looking for a OR Add a new Learning Path

  3. Click on 'edit content' under add a new activity select 'Hyperlink'.

    You will be presented with options to add a hyperlink:

Position

If this is the first and only activity you wish to include in your learning path, it will default to 1. If you choose to have multiple activities within a learning path, you can use this field to choose the position.

Pre-requisite

If you choose to have multiple activities within a learning path, you can use this field to choose whether the user needs to complete all other previous activities or a specific activity before they can complete the e-learning you are adding.

Required

You can choose to make the e-learning activity required or optional. Setting it to required means the activity must be completed before the learning path status changes to complete.

Name

Add a title for the hyperlink, this is what will appear to the user in the learning path

Description

Add a description for the hyperlink activity

Content Category

Select uncategorised or add to an existing category. Adding to a category makes it easier to find or add to other learning paths in the future.

Estimated process time

The expected time to complete the e-learning

Show Certificate

Set to Yes to award a certificate to the user upon completion.

Send email on completion

Choose a template to send on completion**

URL

Type or paste in the full URL that you want to include in your learning path

Click the Add button to complete.

*You can click 'Add' at this point to create a blank e-learning activity to upload training records against.

***If you use the same Activity in various learning paths, once a user has completed it in one path, it will be completed in all.
