Using an off-the-shelf module? You may want to edit an existing assessment

Permissions needed:

  • Edit content

Adding an assessment

2. Select Edit content in the Module sidebar

3. Add an element Module: Assessment by selecting the element dropdown and then selecting Add:

4. Edit the relevant fields, including messages for Introduction, Passed, Retry, and Failed (only appears if assessment limits the number of attempts)

5. Enter a name in the Question Bank field and select Add:

Editing the Question Bank

1. Select the Question Bank you just created:

2. This takes you to the Question Bank properties. You can edit the name, change number of questions, the number of questions to be picked from the Question Bank, and add a case statement.
The case statement is a scenario that the Question Bank questions should relate to (for questions unrelated to the case statement, put them in a new Question Bank). This will appear on the left-hand side of the user's screen, with the questions appearing on the right-hand side. Select Update after making changes.

3. Below the case statement, you can add Multiple choice questions:

4. Enter the question details in the tabs:

  • Questions

  • Options (answers)

  • Explanation (shown after user submits answer)

  • Advanced (styling including colour, padding, width)

When adding text, use these styles:

  • assessment-question

  • assessment-option

  • assessment-explanation

5. Select Add to add the questions. The number of questions users need to answer is the total of all picked questions (chosen in Step 2) from the Question Banks. You can add as many as you want.
