This article outlines the information required in order to install Signagelive on your BrightSign Series 5 devices.
Requirements before you begin:
It is necessary to use at least the 9.0.100 firmware release when testing, however the currently supported and recommended firmware when running Signagelive across all series 5 Players is 9.0.120 (download available here).
This article will be updated as required when new firmware is released, features are added or bug fixes have been validated.
How do I install Signagelive on my Brightsign device?

Extract the contents of the .zip file to an SD card (also extract the .zip containing the 9.0.120 firmware onto the root of the SD card if you also downloaded this)
You can skip these next steps if you would prefer to configure the display settings using a keyboard connected to the Brightsign at a later point in this guide.
Open the BrightSign Config Tool
Fill in the required fields in the “Configuration” area of the page
Press the “Generate” button
This will then automatically download a settings.json file
Copy the settings.json to the “data” folder on the micro SD card.
Remove the micro SD card from your laptop and insert it into the powered-off BrightSign Player
Power on your BrightSign Player
If you have already configured the display settings, your player will now launch and after downloading its content, will show the Signagelive activation code.
If you did not configure the display settings earlier you will be prompted to confirm the display settings using a keyboard before Signagelive loads.
Tab through the settings and select enter on any elements you would like to change, adjust with the arrow keys and press enter to confirm.
Navigate to “save” and press enter when complete.
Your player will now launch and after downloading its content, will show the Signagelive activation code.
How do I configure multiple outputs? (XC only)
By default an XC device will be shipped with the HDMI-1 display enabled and the resolution set to “auto”

Go to the Brightsign Configuration Tool
Under Is Series 5 Device? choose Yes from the drop-down menu
Under Select Device, choose your model from either of the XC2055 or XC4055
You will now be able to configure the display settings for each individual HDMI output
Once you have made your changes to the available configuration options click "Generate", you will then automatically download a settings.json file.
Copy the settings.json file to the “data” folder on the micro SD card.
Signagelive Settings/Setup Menu
Go to the Signagelive settings menu by connecting a keyboard to your BrightSign player and pressing CTRL+S.
For each available screen you will see a list of configuration options available:
Enabled state
Screen rotation
Screen resolution
Screen X
Screen Y
Once you have made your changes from the available configuration options you can then “Save” the configuration. This will apply the configuration and reboot the device. Once the reboot is complete the player will continue its last scheduled content playback with the updated settings applied.
Please Note: if you are outputting to multiple displays, we recommend choosing an output resolution for each HDMI output as opposed to leaving this as the default option Automatically (screen will detect)

Recommendations and known limitations when configuring multiple outputs:
It is not recommended to use the “auto” resolution/video mode setting if you are enabling more than a single display. This is because the canvas screen positioning (ScreenX/ScreenY) are fixed and they may not scale correctly.
Screen X and Y coordinates cannot overlap with another screen configuration.
Video Mode support (e.g. in regards to bit depth, colour space and frequency) will depend on the screen attached. No colour space and colour depth options are available on the screen setup page if the resolution is set to “auto” as when set the device will automatically determine what the resolution and other settings should be.
H265 codec is mandatory for the higher resolution testing otherwise video performance is affected, this tends to be noticeable through choppy playback and it will log to the console (debug over IP) that the resolution of the video is unsupported; in certain instances the player will crash either when it tries to play the video or when it tries to transition to the next video asset.
Removing or plugging in the HDMI leads to the screen will not change if the output is enabled or disabled; it will still span based on its last set screen configuration settings.
