Changing your Player Information

This article provides you with details on how to change your player information (rename your player) within Signagelive.

The Site and Contact Details tab within your Player Manager displays both the address and contact details specific to each Player on your Signagelive Network.

By default, when you first activate a Signagelive Player, it will be assigned a Serial Number (a 5-6 digit number that proceeds the Player Name), and the Player Name (Site Details) will default to the name of your Signagelive Network along with the Activation Code used to activate your Player, it'll look something like this:

You can change all information relating to the Player ID (minus the Serial Number) within your Player's Site and Contact Details tab. Watch this video for a walkthrough of this process:

We recommend that you update this information as the Site details are what is shown as the Player name, so a memorable and relevant naming structure goes a long way when you have lots of Players on your Signagelive Network and can really help you to simplify the task of managing your Players in the long run.

Another reason to ensure that the Player’s site information is correctly updated is that some content is location-aware, and the location information can be taken from your Player's site details.

An example of this is the Weather Widgets available within the Signagelive Marketplace; they can be published to several Players but use each Player's site details to display the weather relevant to that Player's location information provided by these site details.


How do I change a Player's Site information?

Keeping your Player's location and contact information up-to-date is important for accurate management and support.

Here's how to edit these details:

  1. Log in to your Signagelive Network as an Administrator.

  2. Select Network from the main menu.

  3. Select Manage.

  4. Choose the Player you wish to configure by clicking on its name.

  5. Select 'Site Details' from the Player Details menu (usually in the left sidebar).

  6. Here, you can:

    • Update the Site Name (e.g., "Main Lobby Display").

    • Enter or change the Site Address and other location information.

    • Update the Contact Name for the person responsible at that location.

    • Enter or change the Contact Email and Contact Telephone for that person.

  7. Once you've made your changes, click Save at the bottom of the page.

Your Player's updated site and contact details will now be visible across your Signagelive Network!
