What is 'Data Mapping'?
Plan A's Data mapping tool is designed to help you quickly and easily import your data with minimal pre-formatting required. Seamlessly import your raw data (including PDFs!) and select which fields in your file should be matched to our platform's format. Don't worry about adjusting columns, dates, or number formats in Excel - you can now make all necessary adjustments directly on our platform before hitting save!
Benefits:
Simple Mapping: Easily match your columns and values to Plan A's required schema.
Minimal Off-Platform Formatting: Once the file contains the required data, all formatting can take place in-app.
Error Checking and Correction: Identify and correct errors before confirming the data import. All error corrections take place within the tool.
Saved Preferences: Our tool remembers your mapping preferences to speed up your future uploads.
Bulk Upload: Upload up to 50k lines of data at once.
How to use Data mapping
Choose Data entry method: Select 'Data mapping' as your desired upload method.
Check required data points: Identify the essential data points that should be included in your file. Don’t worry about getting the exact names or formats right—just ensure the necessary information is in your upload file.
Import and map: Upload your file and match the columns to our required schema.
Review and correct errors: Look for any highlighted errors and make the necessary corrections.
Confirm and import: After correcting all errors, confirm the data import. Your mapping preferences will be saved for future imports.
How to add multiple files at once
You can now join or append multiple files or sheets using the data mapping import tool. This makes it easier to consolidate data from different sources into a single dataset for emissions calculations.
Select 'Data mapping' as your import method.
Upload multiple files or an Excel file with multiple sheets.
You'll be prompted to choose which sheets to include from each file.
Then, select whether to append or join the data:
Append: Adds more rows to your attribute table.
Join: Adds more columns by combining datasets side by side.
You'll then be guided to manually match the columns in your combined dataset.
Note: This process is triggered only when multiple files or sheets are uploaded. Mapping is still done per category and method, and bulk uploads across categories are not yet supported.
