Purchased Electricity emissions relate to those released during the generation processes of the electricity your organisation purchases. The use of that electricity can vary, for example, from operating general office appliances to fuelling electric vehicles (both fully electric vehciles/BEV and hybrid vehicles/PHEV). The resulting emissions can include carbon dioxide (CO2), non-CO2 gases such as methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O). To calculate your emissions from Purchased Electricity, you ideally need your consumption data in kWh.

Avoiding double counting

Please note that if you charge your hybrid or electric vehicles exclusively on-site (meaning vehicles do not use public charging points at all), in order to avoid double counting emissions, you should take either the readings exclusively from your overall electricity usage, or subtract the vehicle's usage from your overall electricity usage. In this case, it may be simpler to use your overall electricity usage.
