Microphone tips for optimal results

OurMind Notes

Updated over 3 weeks ago

High-quality audio recording is one of the most important prerequisites for creating a good summary with OurMind Notes. It is essential that OurMind has access to your device’s microphone. Without this permission, no (or insufficient) audio can be recorded.

In this article, we explain how to test your microphone, connect it, and grant access in your browser. You’ll also find several microphones we recommend based on practical experience.

Testing Your Microphone

You can easily check whether your microphone is capturing sound correctly. This ensures everything is working properly before you start a consultation.

Connecting Your Microphone

After testing, the microphone must be connected. This can be done in several ways:

  • If the microphone has a cable, plug it into the USB or USB-C port of your computer or laptop.

  • If the microphone connects via Bluetooth, pair it through the settings on your laptop, computer, or phone.

Granting Browser Access

As a final step, you need to give your browser permission to use the microphone. This differs per browser.

Google Chrome

  • Click the lock icon or settings icon on the left side of the address bar.

  • Check whether the microphone has access to the website. If not, grant permission there.

Safari

Safari usually asks for permission automatically when opening a website. When you open app.ourmind.ai and start a consultation, a pop-up will appear asking you to allow audio recording via the microphone.

Firefox

Firefox usually shows a pop-up allowing you to grant microphone access.

  • If you don’t see a pop-up, click the microphone icon on the left side of the address bar to set access manually.

Microsoft Edge

In Microsoft Edge, you can grant microphone access via the icon on the left side of the address bar. In some cases, a pop-up will also appear automatically asking for permission.
